hope you guys dont mind.
heres from NZ.
I am not a trophy hunter,
I shoot for the challenge of roaring in the stags up close and dispatching them as cleanly as poss. I hope you enjoy. For Arron and myself its about mates sharing the wilderness and Im talking days of walking from civilization with no chance of being helped if you come to grief just as much as it is about killing animals. The roar is a great time to work as a team in the bush, spring, winter and summer are times to hunt alone to keep the noise down.We don't shoot from blinds,we walk from daylight to dark in heavy bush, locate the stags by imitating their rutting call, stalk in to around 200 meters and then try to get them to come and pay us a visit by challenging in a roaring match.
This particular roar we Arron and I shot quiet a few as the place needed culling. We let many go and shoot stags only during the roar.

I guess we go about it a little different from other countries and I go about it a bit different from many New Zealanders as well.
I did meat recovery for 7 years as a young man full time and have also been a guide.
now I do it strictly for fun and the table and enjoy hunting more than ever.we are pretty hard core and sleep rough out side and under the canopy of the bush on top of ridges in order to be right where the animals are ,out of the sleeping bag and straight into them is our motto.

Remind me to look you up if I ever make it to your side of the world. That sounds like it would be a blast to do!

I guess the challenge is on! LOL. Thanks for the feedback on my pic. I did blur the puddlers (hen pintail, and drake wigeons) on purpose...cause I'm a sucker for the divers....lol. I actually took a series of 3. #1 focus on the puddlers at nearest the end, blured the rest, #2 focus on the middle ducks (goldeneyes and ringers) and #3 focus on the far side (last ringers and goose) Redlable: you're hunting spot is a lot more scenic than ous, gravel pits aren't really "scenic"...lol. my home computer went to he$$ last night so unable to post my only other "creative" pile pic.

I love the pic. I am a fan of divers also but we don't over all have that many around here. Most of our duck gunning is for puddlers and honkers. Hope you get your computer up soon, you have me interested in your next pile pic. I am trying to think of one for tomorrow. I have a couple of friends going with me so I should get a little camera time finally. Hope to get some BIF meeting pellets:)

MPpro that is a great shot with the ditch parrots!!!

Wow, NZ looks amazing in your snaps, I don't mean this offensively, but in my opinion, that is all they are. The content is very interesting but from a technical point of view, they are a little soft for me. SOme beautiful colours though and I will certanly be considering a trip to NZ next time I'm in a travel agents. First came flight of the conchords and now comes your pictures :D

Chase, those golden Retrievers are beautiful and I want one !

Nice shots boneywhitefoot! Beautiful country, sounds like you guys have a great time hunting! I have a friend in Queensland that does a lot of hunting. I think he gets up into the mountains by helicopter. I haven't talked to him in a few weeks but he was hunting the roar, or the rut as we call it here.

I saw a lot of bucks a couple of weeks prior to gun season, but the rut was over by the time I got out there with a gun.

This is the buck I hunted for this season, never saw it during open season. I took the photo on November 16th, a few days before gun season opened.

Thanks Redlable....looking forward to seeing your newest take. I video the actual hunt so I rarely have my still camera out (I tend to baby it..) but now I feel the challenge...found out the motherboard went to he$$, right before Christmas!!! YEAH!! I'M SO HAPPY!!! what's one more expense?!?! I'll see what I come up with this weekend in the blind. our honkers are few and far between, pretty savvy by this time of year and we really don't shoot unless they fly over low or for some reason come into a spread of duck dec's. LOL. good luck on your hunt!

the NZ pic's are cool, I'd like to go there someday but prolly to duck hunt...LOL.

Great shots Boney.

It's hard to take great pictures when hunting I reckon, especially when you haven't slept properly for days, eaten nothing but power bars, left your ringpiece back on the side of a ridge somewhere then you see a great stag and your camera is stashed away in your backpac.

My goal this year is to nail one in the first 2 days then get the camera out for a week then nail another one to take home. Rifle...Camera...Rifle...
