This game between these two schools has been described by a Butte sports reporter as "the Super Bowl, World Series, Daytona 500, a heavyweight title fight and World War III all rolled into one."
Last year's game just about caused a riot because one player cheap-shot the punter and injured his knee, causing him to be out the rest of the season (he was also a senior OLB and the team leader). Parents got kicked out of the game for threatening HS athletes on the other team. It was ugly. Deputies had to escort the refs out off the field after the game.
Well, this year's game was much better, though!
The team I cover played exceptionally well and beat the tar out of the other team (on the field, of course). Attitudes by both students and parents were exactly as they should be. Anyways, its a crazy rivalry!
