He will be one of the little kittens!! Cool, I'll try to watch. neil_r wrote in post #8838921 A few people have commented on my (current) decision not spay the puppy. I am not a great fan of neutering either dogs or **** unless there is a real and positive reason to do so, like over aggressiveness in dogs or the inability to keep a **** apart from dogs when in season. There is no evidence that neutering makes animals better behaved or easier to train, and there is evidence to show that it can have a detrimental affect on weight and muscle composition. If I am honest I think that a lot of neutering is for the convenience of the owners and not always in the best interest of the dog. Of course if the owners do not have the time, resources or knowledge to "manage" their dogs than neutering is 100% the right thing to do. The other reason is that I may very well breed from her, Take a look at her 5 generation pedigree and count the number of Field Trial Champions in there (30) so it would be a shame not to at least see how she turns out. Pedigree link here And I guess if any of you clicked on the link you now know the dark secret of her real name Fair enough, I respect your decision and never doubted your responsibility. neil_r wrote in post #8839439 Everyone is entitled to their opinion (but many people are not entitled to un-neutered animals) ...this pretty much sums it all up. Well said on all counts, Neil. BearLeeAlive wrote in post #8839552 Yes, the World Series was being played in San Francisco when it happened. The TV screens went blank, and it was 5-10 minutes before we realized what had happened, and even then the entire scope of it was not yet realized. And my cousin-in-law watched the bridge collapse in his rear view mirror. He had just come off it. BeckyWomen and Cats will do as they please. Men and dogs had better get used to it. ~ Robert Heinlein; Procrastinate now! Don't put it off.. ~Cat (CFPackerfan)

My "ancestral home" is in Ben Lomond, which is pretty close to the epicenter. When it hit, and I heard how hard, it took me a few days to get ahold of Dad to see how things were. I'm not a patient person in situations like that. I was about to jump into the car and take off down there when I finally got through. They were fine. Some structural damage, the most severe being the loss of the large chimney and jangled nerves. I tend to ramble. Feel free to put me on ignore.

Everyone has different views on spaying/neutering, and everyone is entitled to those views. Your views come from a position of responsible ownership and pedigree breeding. My views just happen to come from the other end of it... backyard breeding, irresponsible ownership, 'designer breeding', carelessness, laziness and cruelty. I see too many dogs come into the shelters, unwanted. And most of them could have been prevented by spaying/neutering. It is heart wrenching on a daily basis. Pure bred dogs come into the shelters all the time. We have an English Pointer with champion lines, and her pedigree papers. They are not immune to the 'I don't want this dog anymore' just because they are expensive and papered. Even your little Harley in the first few months of her life has already been wanted/rejected, but she was lucky in the end. Also, studies have been done on the benefits of spaying, and females who are spayed before their first heat reduces their chance of getting mammary cancer and other cancers tremendously. I'm not trying to change your mind, I just wanted you to see it from my side, and why I felt it necessary to bring it up in the first place. But you, my dear Neil, do not fit into any of the adjectives that I used in my description. I have no doubt that Harley is in capable hands.Permagrin wrote in post #8839789 I didn't comment on whether you should or shouldn't. Mostly because I have no real experience in this area. But I do understand the not wanting to end the pedigree. Though Harley's has many more champions than Kona's does (and I thought he had a lot). I can see why you don't want to end it. I see Cat's point too. From our perspective, it would have not been a wise idea to not spay Hale. We don't have the inclination or the expertise to breed our dogs. We considered keeping K as a stud but didn't have the real capabilities to handle his amorous tendencies. From your perspective, I've no doubt if you chose to breed her, you'd be a responsible breeder. The one thing I will say...there are a lot of strong opinions here. I have no doubts that they come from informed individuals. But I still believe everyone has to choose their own paths. If we did not support one another regardless of the fact that they chose differently than we would, we aren't very good friends. All of the above reminded me of what a wonderfully diverse bunch of friends lean on the bar here. Not everywhere can so many people have so many opinions and still remain respectful and not suffer hurt feelings. I love it here. *group hug* L M A O!!! Belmondo wrote in post #8839507 I was standing outside a Radio Shack store, and watched their entire inventory fall off the shelves onto the floor. About half the water from our pool ended up in the house, and there was about $75K damage to the structure. It sure changed our world for quite a while. Holy cow! I don't have a recollection of that earthquake. The one I remember was right after Nikki was born in 1985 in Mexico. I will never forget holding my newborn daughter in my arms and being thankful that she was not among the babies in the hospital nursery that had no idea they had all lost their mommies thomascanty wrote in post #8839761 I got a text about an hour ago from Bobbert that said "It's a boy!!!!!"
