Last night's weather forcast predicted rain and wind for early morning then clearing. The clearing came much earlier, but; only one balloonist showed. And as the sun came up so did the wind to approx. 10 knots so this guy didn't launch. However, he talked to several and they are going to try again at 4:00 this afternoon more balloons better picture ops. So hopefully we'll see a launch later today.

Wow, 20 years. My "ancestral home" is in Ben Lomond, which is pretty close to the epicenter. When it hit, and I heard how hard, it took me a few days to get ahold of Dad to see how things were. I'm not a patient person in situations like that. I was about to jump into the car and take off down there when I finally got through. They were fine. Some structural damage, the most severe being the loss of the large chimney and jangled nerves.

We were living in Los Gatos, which is also very close to the epicenter. Lois and I were on our way home and had stopped at the Radio Shack not far from the house. Lois' mom was at our office, getting ready to head home herself. Immediately after the quake, we dashed home, and were there probably 5 minutes or less after the tremor. We saw that while things were a mess, there was no additional immediate danger there. All the phones and electricity were gone, including cellular, so we couldn't reach the office to see what (if anything) had happened there. We jumped back in the car and drove the 5 or so miles to the office, and actually got there fairly fast---maybe 15 minutes. Mom had left and was headed to the house. We turned around and headed back home ourselves, and that trip took over two hours. Traffic was complete gridlocked. It took some real ingenuity to find a route, but we eventually all met up there.

There were a lot of chimneys damaged. It was deemed prudent to have it inspected before using it, even if it showed no outward signs of damage. We had to repair/replace a few, although not on our own house.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

That is so good. I really love that Springer body shape. There is a bit of a trend back to the heavy body big head look but, for me, this lighter higher look that Kona has is great.

You have a very beautiful looking dog there, all be it one with a tongue borrowed from a dog 3 times his size ;-)a

Neil that is Sunny (Kona's full blood sister). They do look almost identical. He's just taller and slightly broader than she is. He didn't stand still long enough to GIF him.
