I should have gone somewhere to get them done, I know. My procrastination didn't exactly work in my favor this time, so I got stuck doing them myself. Other than the poor background replacement and jagged edges on that, comments about processing are fine. I just need a general Okay on the skin tone and such. It doesn't need to be much sharper than it is because the only thing I'm using it for is the yearbook, and those pictures are tiny.

Can't you just see the joy in my eyes? I mean, really, you can tell I just love getting my picture taken. </sarcasm>

Edit: Just in case anyone cares to know my very ghetto set up, it was a gray fleece sheet for the background, on camera 430EX bounced off the ceiling, and a silver car sunlight reflector thing camera right.

Katiana or Kate, either one works.

No, no, I meant comments on processing are fine, just not about the horrible copypaste job, I know I need to correct that.

I think I can deal with DMV (though I can say with confidence my license picture is worse than this :P) and flat lighting for this picture, but if I ever attempt to do this again (which I hopefully won't have to... I'm on the four year plan, not the five year), then I'll take that into consideration for sure. Thanks!

I think what you posted is very usable but I'd like to see your avatar pic as well.

I would have said this shot was alright... Then I saw your avatar pic and it changed my mind -- I don't think you're doing yourself justice with this attempt.

I'd either reshoot or use the avatar.

I would use my avatar, but I can't. You have to be wearing that black drape thing, which is about eighty percent of the reason I hated taking the picture by myself so much. I had to keep messing with the thing because every time I had to lift my arm to get my faulty remote to fire the camera, it would slide off. Also, I can't fake smile. I always look ever so slightly disgusted, haha.

Thanks so much for the comments, it's good to know that it is at least semi-usable for my purposes. Maybe I can convince my parents to give me 300 bucks since that's about what I saved them with my lack of planning, :P

If you do a re-shoot with your current setup, you might try turning the flash to camera left (your right) and tilt it down a little so it bounces partly off a wall. This would give some side lighting & be less flat...............tw

PS: The skin tones look OK to me.
