As pictured here, it speaks to "piece of gear from a silly game that grown-up boys play." The object itself, however, has some interesting characteristics. I think you could have a more compelling shot if you posed it 3/4 instead of profile (turned the front more toward the camera). Also, the background and foreground should be very dark and colorless and almost featureless. It would give it an outer-spacey kind of feel. Try replacing the yellow with red. Doesn't that sound like an interesting project?

I am just impressed you had the courage to bring your 1D2 to a piant ball range!

Is it me or are they both a little OOF? AGreed with joedlh, 3/4 would have been better.

It's the same picture, just processed the raws a little differently. I shot at f/2.8 and got the splatter in focus, but the parts of the mask that are closest and farthest away are a bit OOF. I should have shot at like f/5.6, but oh well. Still trying to figure out my 1D2 and learning as I go.

I'll have to try that out and post something. Thanks for the idea.

I used to be sponsored and played competitively, so I was at home. Interestingly enough, I quit paintball because it was too expensive at the time and thought I'd take my hand at photography...wow...and I thought paintball was expensive. Well worth the money though

I took the shot :D and it's sitting on a big wooden spool, like the ones these use to wind big electric cables.

You would be correct, sir. The shot was taken at the old Gator Joe's, now known as Paintball Indiana. Where'd you used to play at?

I haven't been anywhere in Indiana. I just noticed your picture on the Robert's photo contest so figured you were in Indy.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I just got into this stuff a month ago and wanted to see who I'm up against and trying to learn stuff along the way.
