I'm using 580exII for master and two 430exII(s) for slaves.

I figure that I will have to learn to balance the light I find that while typing, I realize I don't really know how to ask the question.

I will ask, can the master output be controlled in manual while controlling each slave's output? I have been able to change output on the slaves from the 580, but haven't figured out how to change the output on the 580 itself, while in master mode.

When firing ettl I always get underexposed pictures if I shoot with the master flash off (depending on just the two 430s for light). When I use the light from the master itself, I don't know how to balance the light ratio between the three of them. I see that I can change the ratio from a to b but not a, b, master.

Any help or tutorial would be appreciated.
