Satllions football

Shot my first football game on Saturday. Here's a shot I wanted to post and get some feedback on.

It was definitely different from soccer but I think this one came out pretty good.

Feedback appreciated.

It seems a bit soft. I would like to see the kids face more in focus. His left hand seems to have a motion blur to it. What was your shutter speed? Too slow I'm thinking.

I'm saying this only because I have way too many photos like this of my son's games. Nice action and composition like yours, but out of focus.

I set my 40D up like this generally,
Image style: Standard (with a bit more sharpness)
Av mode set to f4.5 or f5.0 using my 70-200 f4 L lens
ISO: 200 to 400 depending on the light that day
AF: AI Servo
Drive: High
Center focus sensor only
Metering: That depends, sometimes its Center-weighted, sometimes Evaluative, sometimes is Partial. But never Spot. That's too much.
