Just throwing this out, has anyone in Canada ordered one? If so how long did you have to wait? I hate waiting :(

Also did Canada custom charge gst/pst/duty?

My coworker ordered one, I don't remember him paying tax/duty. It was pretty quick from time of shipping. We're in Kelowna (so it was shipped to Richmond/Vancouver then out)

I am looking to purchase a backpack for hiking. I am torn between the Gura bags and the Tilopa. My only concern about the Tilopa is that for air travel I might not be able to check -in this bag with me. Can this bag size be legally checked in or is it too big for the cabin?

I believe the Tilopa is within carry on size limits. Ian would know better however.

This is a sweet looking bag - i'm curious about the dimensions too re: carry-on size. Of course, a lot of that comes down to the person at the check in counter and how heavy/oversized your bag "looks." I have yet to have a problem with my ThinkTank Airport whatever (smallest one) it just looks small even though it is well overweight and it even fits into the tiny partitioned cubby-holes that old Soviet passenger jets have for overhead bins.

Ian assured me it's fine for legal carry-on. Most airlines require no more than 45" I think when adding LxWxH and I think the Tilopa comes out to 46" but who's going to really measure at the gate? The thing that made me okay with the bag is that the ICU can lift out of the bag and be carried separately if you get hassled plus the frame can be removed as well.

My bag finally came in the mail today. My only complaint is the ICU, it's way to large for me, going to look at getting the small or medium. Other issues they've already addressed such as the inserts, making things easier to see in low light.

All in all I am pretty happy with the bag. :)

I'll probably do a thorough review once I have used it for a season.

Hey i'm doing a trip to LA this weekend and planning to use this as my carry on.. and yes ICU is huge! so that's why they have medium or small. But after I measured it, I dont know if I need Medium or Small!!! decisions decisions... :(

let me know if you plan to order, maybe we can order together and split shipping!!

did you get tax'd?

He let me know how it goes with the carry on. Nope I didn't get taxed, thankfully.

Let me know if your going to get a small or medium. That is a great idea to split shipping. I would like to know whats the biggest setup each a small or medium can handle. With my bags all bought for now, I am going to look at getting a tripod (fingers crossed for gitzo), and work on my "wishlist" w/ lenses.

hey guys,

A Medium fits a mounted 70-200 L vertically. The width is the same,

A Small fits a Pro body/ 70-200L and 16-35L (or similar) broken down, it is 20cm vertical same width, there is some left over room for smaller items... cables etc. Ideally the top row has the tele and the wide and body on the lower. All arranged by dividers... so you can change that according to your needs.
