Yup, CPl filter in place, but very naive Lightroom skills, this is a more realistic version, needs more blue though ;)

This is at 15mm no lens correction, as a landscape lens it does better than most zooms, especially the EF-S ones.....

Nice shot Derek
With the cloudy day the sky and sea appear to be all one colour which is a liitle unfortunate, have you tried adjusting in PP. Did you shoot in RAW or JPEG?
The lens looks good, looks sharp in the foreground did you do any sharpening in PP or is it straight out of the camera.
I am considering purchasing this lens over the Tamron 17-50 so very interested in how you are finding using this lens

Shot in Raw, PP in Lightroom and Elements.

Sky was overbright, so used LR graduated filter (which is terrific) to deliberately match the sky/sea. I actually wanted to lose the horizon line, as on the day, that's what I (couldn't) see. The sea/sky just merged in to one.

Here's the bad news. This is the 3rd copy I've had of this lens ( shame on you, Canon). This copy is good, I'm happy @ £500UK.., but I am surprised at the quality variation I've experienced. Luckily, I paid the 'extra' and bought from my local dealer, who has
exchanged the unit twice now.

I think my copy is good. There's nothing obviously wrong with it, but I can't be sure if another copy might be better.

Just my bad luck, especially as a newbie. Struggled with the first copy for several months, assumed it was just 'pilot error', but eventually plucked up the courage to go back and ask an expert to check it. They sent it back, twice, to Canon, then gave up and swapped me a new one (after 6 months-that's service), 2nd one was a little better, but, primarily by looking at this thread, I still didn't feel I was getting the results I should have been getting at this price.

In the meantime I had bought a S/H 70-300 EF, which was giving me terrific shots, (and building my confidence) so then I had the courage to go back yet again, this time with comparison shots between the 2 lenses.

Once again, the store (Park Cameras, UK, take a bow fellahs) agreed the 15-85 wasn't up to par (I forgot to mention that they had also changed my camera, 500D, as well!) and swapped me out another new one..

Now I'm happy, beginning to get some good results, and had a couple of prints done from the (latest) 15-85. What a difference a print makes! I have Mac Cinema displays, but the prints look WAAAY better than the screens.

Yes, it would be great if this lens was a little faster, (I rarely hand hold it, it's usually on a monopod) but a good copy is still worth the money IMO, although it is NOT cheap..

Hi guys,

Just a picture to show you how great this lens performs in low light conditions at 85mm, iso 2500, no flash. I was amazed by the result of this one!

1/30 at 5.6, handheld and no PP. Of course the IS and the high iso capabilities of the 7D help a lot :)

Spotter great show of what the lens can do in dim lighting. Also great skills to pull it of HH.

More pics I see in this thread the more I can't wait to have one arrive at my doorstep.

^ Can't really help you with that question unless you let us know what other lenses you have and what you shoot.
