Suggest muting the colour a bit or just toying around with different effects in PP; example - make it look old , your dates are from the early 1900s - it's a little too snappy for a sombre place where so many gave up their lives.

Valid advice, thank you! The pics above were from a number of shots I took for inclusion in a travel magazine and hence the client wanted "as they are now" effect!
