Someone asked me to photograph some bead jewelry that may lead to a paying gig for a winter project.

What I used for these images: 40D, 24-70 2.8 L, 580EXII, 430EXII, Cheapo light (not sure wattage), seamless background.

What do you like? What don't you like? What would you do different? I don't have a macro lens, but if I got this gig I would rent/buy one.

Ooo I like these shots a lot!

However, there allways seems to be a "However"...

#1&2 if you like the reflection and want to include it. Move the items a bit higher in the frame and include more of the reflection, here it seems cut off.because the fade is to abrupt. And don't reflect the text in #1. The text as in #2 is a ton better.

Also on #2 a reflector to brighten up the left side would help more than you think it will.

#3 is great but for the kink on the right side. it is just a lil too much.

Also watch your exposures. Such as 1&2, They are of the same necklace right? Then why are they 2 different colors? Try to keep the colors consistent.

Other than that I think they are great! Excellent job!

That is very encouraging... thanks for the feedback. I addressed those issues and updated them on my website: http://robertlineberg.smugmug.com …857_cemoR#666790278_twySH (external link)
