Flashes compatible with 7D wireless mode

Well now that the new 7D is here and people are using OCF. What flashes are compatible with the 7D? Yes I have read the manual (p119 and on), it refers to speedlites. But which ones actually work? All speedlites that can be slaves should work. But I want to verify it works.

There are some how have already used it with the 580, how about others. Please post in this thread your experience and I will try to keep the list up to date.

Yes I know you think this should go into the flash section. But I'm talking about the camera and what it actually does. So hopefully it doesn't get moved.

Come on, someone must have used the 7D with something other than the 580.

I used my 430 EX II's successfully.

430 EX definitely does. I leant mine to my friend who has just bought a 7D.

Why do you think that the 420EX will not work? It does with any other ETTL master.

I don't have a 7D, my friend does. The Mk II funded my Mk III.

Still looking for confirmation of the 550EX, 420EX and 380EX.

The 380 doesn't do ANY wireless. That is why I sold mine when I moved up to a 580EXII

Now we are down to 550EX and 420EX. I have a 550EX if you have a 7D and live in the SF bay Area.

I have a 420 as well as 580 II. But my 7D won't get here until Monday. So hopefully someone else can provide you with the info on the 420 before then. Else it'll be a long wait for you.

I used to have a 420EX and it could function as a slave in a Canon wireless setup. I personally never used it as a slave as I never had a master flash to trigger it from, but it definitely has the switches and receiver on it.

Well, it works as a slave w/ the 580 II triggering it. So I couldn't imagine that it won't work w/ 7D's built-in wireless controller. But who knows.

TeamSpeed's reviewconfirms it works with the Sigma EF DG 500 ETTLII - not sure if that's the Super or DG.
