Nicely done. I might have put the full moon in the center and the others around. There is some mismatch between brightness on them, but sure looks nice. I'd be proud to hang it on my wall if I had done it!

I seem to remember seeing a blog about a guy taking shots with a 7D in the Arctic Circle at -45 I think. The pics were funny as the camera looked more white than black. He had some hints about condensation etc but cannot remember exactly what and as I hate any minus figure I don't intend to try this myself.

edit : here it is http://canonfieldreviews.com/7d-1-weather-sealing/ (external link)

I'm worried more about the humidity here (which is way more than in the arctic) than the temps. But I swear to god, I was pressing buttons on the XS and it was acting weird! haha

My friend photographer made a wool jacker for her D700. I've yet to see that but I wonder if it really helps hahah

Edit: cool link but it didn't tell what the temps were.

Just to show off the AF system on the 7D, I have a short series of shots where the 7D tracked the Heron I was shooting very well..

I picked him up over open waters...

I skipped an image here - deleted it because it was a little soft, but I should have kept it. I wasn't planning on posting a series. Now watch these...

I stayed on it as you'll see in the next post...

And part 2, I continued to track him as he passed behind the railing...

I ran out of burst, but I keep the shutter down...

I would say that the 7D does a great job of tracking, and it obviously isn't swayed by interfering objects. FYI, C. Fn. III-1 set at one notch above "slow".

Is the 7D a good camera? You bet it is.

Cheers.

Nice series, Tom. Great job w/ the tracking by both you and the 7D.

thanks, Julian. They do fly somewhat slowly, so they aren't has hard to track as some of the smaller birds that tend to dart around. I still need plenty of practice with those!
