^ That's a pretty neat shot. The only thing I would change is straighten the vertical on the building (on the left) similar to the right.

Recently came back to the 7D after a brief flirtation with a 1DmkIII :)

Thank you! But how does one do that? Lens correction in CS5? :o

Dolina, utterly amazing pictures.
What shutter speed did you use? They look extremely well executed, i can only congratulate your steadiness considering their done with 800mm

A few more horsies shot this past weekend at the horserace :)

Lovely shots of the race, really like #1 and #2. About #1 - is that balls of snow I'm seeing in the horse's ears?

Yes - lens correction would do it.

Doesn't seem to want to co-operate. :(

I'm not the most proficient at Photoshop yet, so I cropped it out.

I have CS5 and the way I would do it is: Filter-->Lens Correction | Click the custom tab--> move the vertical slider until the buildings straighten out. If you use Lightroom, that has it too.

Eh, I think it looks fine. Getting so particular about barrel distortion is something I will never understand. You can also just make a selection of the entire image, hold control, and drag the corners to skew it manually until everything straightens out. Not as accurate as lens correction, but works for a quick fix if you're worried about horizons or building verticals that are slightly off.

If you're into photography for fun, then yes - it does not really matter. I've done a couple shots for local real estate companies and I can tell you that having uneven edges/distortion is unacceptable (in that particular market).

I will admit, it was bugging me, but I hadn't known how to correct it.

Whether it's a paid shoot, or for personal use, I'd still strive to make it the best I can make it. Would it not be defeating the purpose of doing it in the first place? ;)
