The dragonfly's wings look great, did you sharpen in post processing?
I am digging the bokeh as well, very smooth, in contrast to the tack sharp subject.

Thanks I didn't specifically sharpen the wings, but I do sharpen my images using the clarity slider. If I'm shooting at a lower ISO and not much noise is present, then I tend to use something like -26 contrast and raise the clarity as high as +80 and blacks -50. Clarity does sharpening as well as contrast which is good but if there's quite a bit of noise present, then it would be best to use less clarity since the sharpening brings out more noise.
Haha yeah I thought it wouldn't look good when I shot it but surprisingly the dry grass made the OOF areas look quite interesting!

^ Sorry, was that shot with your 6D or your 55D? Just curious. I like seeing examples from people with the same gear as me,
to know I could recreate something similar, if I had the proper skills. As in, the image is your skill, not the gear.

It's shot with my 6D, the 550D isn't really used anymore and I've also read the 100mm performs much better on FF bodies it's ok that's one of the best ways to get inspiration! To me I reckon this shot was more luck, it was my first time attempting to do a shot like this and I feel it could be much better but I appreciate the compliments

^ Personally, I have never been a fan of the rule of thirds. The images can be very proper, and professional, but I enjoy 'travel' 'street' 'editorial' style much more. Perfectly framed, staged photos are nice, like a studio shoot, but they seem in sharp contrast with my actual life.
This is a striking example of an excellent photo that is "subject dead-center" and not symmetrical. (a building) Well done!

To me it depends on the type of photo you're doing, with insect and macro work you don't have the luxury of taking forever just to compose it right so just do what looks good to you! I like Cinematic street photography and when it comes to something like street, it can be good to have the subject centered and other details to the side. Sticking to the rule of thirds can create more generic images so just shoot how you want to and create your images the way you want to
Once again I appreciate all the praise but I don't even think my photo is that great! haha.

This lens is still my favorite....
