Here are some wasps from our front garden. The 1st wasp looked as if it had collided with a spider’s web and appeared to be resting on the edge of a leaf after escaping, with silk threads hanging off its wings and legs.

Meanwhile, nearby, the other colony of wasps continues with their nest building activities and don’t mind the 100mm macro poking in!

A Hoverfly in flight. Taken using off-camera flash, with ambient set to around 4 stops under so the Canon Speedlite provided the illumination to “freeze” the action.

A touch of Shadow/Highlight in CS6 was used to tease out some of the visibility and details in the dimmer wings.
