Spring time emergence, at last. Bird season is giving way to bug season!

An Assassin Bug; trying different lighting angles here.

Thanks David, should have mentioned these where taken at a macro workshop. With a very nice studio lighting setup. This lens is becoming my favourite, after about two weeks owning it. ߘ

Posted this in the 5DmkIII thread so hope it's okay to share here as well?

Few I like from a quick visit to Hyde Hall. 5D mkIII and the Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS. all handheld as per usual, really must try a tripod one day.

Nice, Dennis! Are these single shots or stacks?

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Hi Sam

Thanks!:-)

The moth is a stack of 2 frames; one had the head parts in focus and the other had the rear parts in focus as I couldn’t get the camera sensor parallel to the insect body due to its position in the shrub.

The fly is a single frame, it was feeding on some quite smelly red fungus so I was able to crawl around on the ground and get into a good position.

Cheers

Dennis
