My new lens arrived yesterday from B&H. :-) It was pouring rain so I couldn't do anything outside. I did try out a couple of shots inside and it was amazing! I sold 2 other lenses (including the non-IS 100mm macro) to get this one & I wasn't sure that was a good decision until the new lens arrived. Now I know it was. The IS definitely DOES make a difference! (Also, I haven't heard any noises from the lens, at least so far.)

Is is a fabulous lens. Very quick to focus as long as you give it some contrast. Will hunt for focus if there is no contrast. Not just for macro, it is a great all rounder. I have taken portraits, landscape, product, food, etc.

Have fun with it!

I really should blow the dust off mine and get back using it. (I definitely will do when I have a camera that works).

Canon R6 II, RF 800mm.
I like what I like.

I have befriended a Paper Wasp who has chosen a Sacred Bamboo bush for his nest location, in our back garden.:-)

Such a sharp lens.

Cheers

I have befriended a Paper Wasp ...

You're a braver man than me if your paper wasps are anything like ours in the Top End!

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Hah, I am quite careful, take my time and move very slowly, watching for any agitated behaviour.:-)

I have only been stung on one occasion in a forest, when following a beetle up a tree trunk and on the other side, unseen to me, an Eastern Water Dragon was raiding a bee hive. The bees suddenly swarmed from behind the tree, saw me and had a go at me. I was stung on the arm and back but managed to break the 100m sprint record through a forest, festooned with camera gear, arms flailing wildly.:-)

Cheers

Dennis
