I sold 2 other lenses (including the non-IS 100mm macro) to get this one & I wasn't sure that was a good decision until the new lens arrived. Now I know it was. The IS definitely DOES make a difference! (Also, I haven't heard any noises from the lens, at least so far.)Is is a fabulous lens. Very quick to focus as long as you give it some contrast. Will hunt for focus if there is no contrast. Not just for macro, it is a great all rounder. I have taken portraits, landscape, product, food, etc.

The bees suddenly swarmed from behind the tree, saw me and had a go at me. I was stung on the arm and back but managed to break the 100m sprint record through a forest, festooned with camera gear, arms flailing wildly. ![]() Cheers Dennis LOL... yeah that would be me too...
