Looks like an inverted reflection of boat masts to me...

I enjoy macro and I shoot a lot of informal "portrait"-like pics of family and friends. Would it be foolish or unreasonable to consider trading or selling my 50 1.4 and my 10-22 to have the 100 f2.8L IS USM ? Thanks.

As much as I love my 100mm I'd stick with the 50mm on a crop body. Even on a full frame I often find it to be tight, even in my large studio. Go ahead and get it, it's an awesome lens but don't sell anything to get it.

Is that the canon 17-55 2.8 in your sig (I loved that lens and still dream that someday they'll make something similar that will fit on a 1D series camera)?
To be honest, I found the 17-55 takes better portrait shots than the 50 1.4 anyway, so selling the 50 won't be a big loss...if you find you shoot macro and portrait as opposed to architecture, landscapes, or other various uses of the ultra wide, then I say yeah, go ahead and pick up the 100L. Its a great lens.
