Thanks T,

No lighting or tripod on these two. I was actually under a tree for some shade as I was taking a break and when I looked at the tree trunk, I noticed the fly and a bunch of ants. The photos were taking around 12-1pm on a sunny day (but obviously under shade from the tree).

Let me tell you, chasing after an ant at 1:1 & 1:2 magnification = serious business. I think I was lucky to get 1 out of 10 but I certainly am not blaming my lens nor the camera.

Has any one had issues with slow focus? Or your lens not finding a focus point? I have the lens but im finding the focus can be slow or it has trouble finding any focus point at all. I am using with my 7d. any one have this issue? I am more of a wide shooter. i use a 11-16 and a 30mm more. so if any one can give me a tip that would rock!

If the light is even a bit low the lens does not seem to snap in to focus. i was just a bit suprised because every one has said its so fast. But again i am not a macro shooter.

thanks !

low light focusing problem worries me so. any more examples of hand held low-light shots? it's easier to produce sharp pix when the sun's out. half of my intended use for this will be inside restaurants/night time street food vendors, etc. have 2 coming in the bag thanks to the $50 rebate + BING CB.

Yep...constantly!

It's not my most used lens, but when I do use it I find it to be pretty erratic to say the least in terms of focusing on both of my camera bodies.

I think the only time it 'snaps' into focus is when I have the limit switch set to maximum and shoot an object from a reasonable distance, and it hunts all over the place indoors most of the time.

Learning. Slowly,but surely...

Anyone wanna hazard a guess what this might be? (I would've never known until I aimed the 100L directly at it.) Taken close to (if not at) MFD, so 1:1 mag. This is a 100% crop.
