Re-editted to up the exposure more, don't know if I have the same poses from before, but the technique is what I was looking for here..

These seem underexposed. The background should be at least 2 stops brighter than the foreground. So if she is properly exposed at f8 the background should be at least f11 or possibly higher. Also a true high key portrait the subject would also be wearing light colors usually white.

hate to say this but you don't know what high key is. It's ok and no one is pointing fingers. A high key look is slightly overexposed look to the pic. What you have is slightly underexposed. There's also low key portraits, where certain areas are underexposed dramatically.

I disagree with the wearing white comment. It looks cool with white but any color will do.

I suggest looking up some tutorials on processing your photos (skin, burn and dodge). They could use some TLC :)

Thanks for the pointers.. this was from a meetup at a local studio, I can up the exposure a bit.. the instructor told us it was a high key setup and to shoot at f/8..

The lights he had were not recycling at the same rate, and one of the background lights was a speedlight.. I saw some issues in some of my photos with that..

I'll work them a bit and see what I get
