when you guys set to single point focus, do you get the red box all the time? sometimes i dont...is there a way to disable the point turning red, just in case i turned it off?

note....iam in oneshot mode!

Do you mean the box in teh viewfinder or when looking at it later on the LCD?

I am not even getting a red box. I see all black. I see the dots for the AF points and a box for the selected one.

I noticed that there is a custom function to show the af points I th VF.

Now that you've got me thinking about it I'm noticing I only get the box to turn red with MF confirm

I think I've got it. Set Cfn III-8 to enable instead of auto. On auto it only illuminates the VF in red if there's not a lot of ambient light. Also you must be on One Shot AF instead of servo

c'mon guys, read the manual. you can change certain aspects of the af lighting up and stuff. you just gotta read.
