Ordered my hubby the lens he has been coveting.... 70-300mm DO/IS. While I was there, I picked up the 135mm/2.0L USM for myself before I knew it. I guess I'll get over it soon enough, sigh.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

I'm green with envy, Maureen. Congratulations! My ignorance is showing, but what does DO indicate on the 70-300mm?

Difractive Optics. A way of making the individual glass elements so that the whole lens can be much shorter.
And yes I am a lucky guy with a great gal:mrgreen:

Bless the recently fallen and their family and friends.
I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.

Mr and Mrs Souza, you are both lucky. Many wives/husbands seem to have to beg for such nice presents/purchases. I am intorducing my girlfriend to photography, so in the future all I need to do to get a new lens, is to buy her one too. Double the cost, but better than not having any new toys. Both enjoy your toys and post some pics from them.

Hey Maureen, great choice!

Skip: You picked a winner! (I'll let you decide whether I am talking about Maureen or the lens  )

I'm glad to see that you and Skip are keeping up with each other in the purchases. Wouldn't want Canon USA to go broke for lack of sales,

Anyway lets see some photographs from those lenses folks.

Congratulations. I've seen examples from the 135mm--mostly concert shots--and I suspect it's going to serve you very well in your wedding jobs.

It's fun to read about your relationship with your roomie ;-)a
You both are fortunate that you can share a home, life, and hobby.

Cheers!

Awww...you guys are all so nice. It really IS fun having a partner in crime (especially able to say that because he is shampooing the carpets as I play on the computer:) ). Although our photography interests and needs are different, we have a blast talking about and taking pictures ....and our cameras. We are headed to Yosemite Monday to see the roaring waterfalls and give my 16-35mm a real first work out!

Dang. I'll miss you guys by one day.
I'll be up on Tuesday and Wednesday although I'll have to make do with the 17-40.
Tried to find a 10-22 but for couldn't find one in time and truth be told, I've ravaged the personal finances enough with the most recent spending spree
