Where can I obtain a cable to operate my Speedlite off camera? Cant seem to find one.

You can find the OC-E3 at numerous places. There are also lots of other options. Radio Triggering, IR Triggering, etc.

not at all! I use the flashzebra, built like the one of Canon's only cheaper.

I also use a Flashzebra cord, and it works perfectly for both ETTL and manual flash. Increadibly heavy duty cord, well made.
