After doing my 50D vs 7D comparison, and having watched all the hoopla here on POTN from the rumor leak to the availability of the 7D, I thought I would do a final commemorative montage for those interested in the 7D. This might serve as the historical reference of the 7D for when the 7DII, etc. so that we don't have revisionist historical accounts! :D

Other associative posts to add to the historical accounts:
1. My Personal 50D vs 7D Mini-Review
2. 5DII vs 7D
3. Another 50D vs 7D
4. The First Unpacking
5. Gasp, 7D Banding

I hope you enjoy the following Penguins episode!

===============
Saturday Morning Episode - 70? No the 7D - October 3, 2009
===============

"Killer crop body, boys... killer crop body!" - Rumors were leaked, sample poster and equipment leaked shots, along with photoshopped boxes and 7D bodies, images, etc. People waited anxiously for any news at all, taking the bait of photoshopped pics and bad rumor info...

IMAGE: http://teamspeed.smugmug.com/photos/668585018_dKZ8k-L.jpg

Canon officially announced the 7D and the specs, preliminary hands-on reviews ensued, quarterback engineers bashed the specs and heralded the 7D as the worst decision Canon could make (too many pixels crammed into a tight spot, crop sensor, diffraction, worse than 50d)...

IMAGE: http://teamspeed.smugmug.com/photos/668584996_QitE8-L.jpg

"Kawolski, report!" - People started to get their hands on them, and do 100% crop comparisions, things were actually looking positive, much to the dismay of many naysayers...

IMAGE: http://teamspeed.smugmug.com/photos/668585012_e2rm4-L.jpg

Then comparisons ensued over the 1DMKIII and the 5DII. What total heresay, you could never ever compare anything less than a FF body to that of the unbeatable 5D line, what are people thinking?

IMAGE: http://teamspeed.smugmug.com/photos/668585000_ofoax-L.jpg

As threads abound on the 7D, people either bashing or praising the 7D, others on the fence are just too confused to know what the best decision is, buy a 7D, 50D, 40D, 5D, 5DII, MKIII, oh the humanity!

IMAGE: http://teamspeed.smugmug.com/photos/668585007_ui529-L.jpg

Slowly the community starts to head toward a common direction on the verdict on the 7D, it actually is a pretty good camera and fits well in the Canon line, doing pretty much everything Canon touted it would, and those that buy the 7D are happy... "Anybody want to look at my booty?"

I'm seeing a lot of horizontal banding in those shots. What a worthless camera. Why would you put 18mp into a crop sensor?

Way to screw up again Canon! Dark side here I come!!!

LOL, one day I actually have to work on getting a better video switch to the projector, or just bite the bullet and get the Onkyo receiver that I have been eyeing. I guess my homemade 116" screen might be to blame too! (not really, it is actually quite good)
