I am starting to sell more and more photos but I think adding a matte looks more professional and I can charge more for them (larger profit margin). I am buying mattes premade at Micheals. There are only 5$ but they do not have backs on them. I do not want to use 3/16 foam core as that too thick. What are people using for backs?

I looked at Micheals for just backing but did no see any. What are others using? Is it better to use tape, glue, spray???

Thanks for any input. Yes I did research on mattes on POTN and the net but unable to find answers.

There are various ways to mount prints (I assume that's what you mean) onto your choice of backing or mattes. I currently use a dry mounting method that involves some kind of wax paper to press the image onto the board - just do a google search for dry mount prints and you'll come up with some info.

I went without mats but do have my prints mounted on mat board. I use MPIX and it's well worth the extra $$ to have them mounted. There's been no negative response to my prints not being matted.

I would just use 2 pices of mat - one for the backing and one that's cut. Do a hinge with cloth tape to hold the image where you want it and then sandwich between the two matboards. Use either double sided tape or glue of some sort to hold the two mats together.
