Aurielle Model ~ Portfolio Grey Seemless

Aurielle and I are trying to get a portfolio started for her..

she is in her early 20's and i feel she has great potential to go far in the beauty business of modeling ..

The Grey Seemless was provided by Ryan O Hicks, setting this thing up and taking down is a real pain.. thanks for bringing this Ryan..

to get this shot we had to have..

1. A fan for hair
2. Key lighting was the Quadra camera left @ 2.8 power
3. Side lighting was the 60 inch Softlighter in with AB1600 @ 1/2 power camera right rear for the fill

about the skin work.. (i am still learning skin work, the dodge and burn, at pixel level, takes really long.. so i am experimenting with other methods that gets good results but much less time.. ) i do know the simple plug in's don't get the pro results you want so don't do plug ins..

3 layers..

1. top layer is a high pass filter @ opacity of 33 percent with blending mode of overlay
2. 2nd layer is a cleaned up layer of skin smoothing opacity of 88-90 percent
3. original layer that was hand cleaned up with photoshop spot healer manual mode

BTW it is weird to work with Grey Seemless for me.. it isn't my style... haha

Here we go.. I've been lurking here for a long, LONG time and have been in awe of all the fantastic work that's been posted. This thread is a constant stream of inspiration for me.

Anyway, I decided it was time to start putting up..

This photo is from a shoot I did about a month ago out in the desert. Two wirelessly-controlled 580EXIIs on stands- one bounced with an umbrella to my left and one bare off to my right and set back a ways.

Looking back, there are obviously things I'd do differently (lighten up her face, for one), but as it was my first "real" shoot, I'm happy with the results. Also, what looks like pixelated fringe on the model's chest is actually the Sikorsky crystal neck strap.

Thanks.

Cheers Pham.

The smoke machine is a 900w one with an output of 2500cuft, takes about 4 minutes to warm up and then good to go. The thing is about the smoke is it acts as a big light diffuser so be careful when front lighting as you'll loose contrast. The machine cost me NZ$134 but they'll be cheap as over there.

Here's a couple of setup shots.

First one Moppie (one of the mods here) gobbing off to the models.

I think seamless is probably one of those unfortunate, immovable realities of what we do. We're always going to need it, it's always going to be a pain.
