Business Head Shot.

This woman wanted something "corporate but sexy".

That's a first for me.. lolol

Four light sources. 3 powered, 1 reflector.

Main Light - 36" x 48" softbox with translucent deflector and both layers of diffusion.

Fill - 42" Silver reflector.

Hair Light- 9" x 36" strip box with grid.

Background - 60 degree reflector.

QUOTED IMAGE

Hey Rob, great shot just curious how much light falloff was there on the top of the head without the hair light? Just wondering as you balanced the hair light to be perfectly blended.

Thanks Mark. I'm not sure about the falloff but I can tell you that with this type of shot and lighting setup, if the subject has dark hair I tend to start with my hair light 1 stop under the main light. It's not a hard and fast rule but it's a good place for me to start. Sometimes I end up 2/3 under but never more.

I like to think of a hair light as a continuation of the main light and not as a separate entity.

A couple of recent shots from me

Two completely opposite shoots two weekends in a row.

Two and Three are a little over processed for my normal liking, but the shoot was inspired by Stefano Canturi's Barbie Jewellery. As we all know, Barbie doesn't have imperfections.

I bet your wife is happy you included her bra in the pullback. :D

Ya I noticed it after I was looking at the set up shot on the computer...she laughed and didn't mind it much. :D

i like the first one Luke , but in the other two , i find the backgrounds too distracting, IMHO

was the shoot to show off the Jewelery on her wrists?
from my prospective, the background is way to saturated, and competes with the model, i didn't even see the jewelery on her wrist until i read your comment.
still a great image, and i like it alot, just was wondering that.

I have to agree, a little too much color, it takes away the focus on the model.
