i think one of these shots will end up on a billboard soon..

lighting was 3 lights.

1. key light was Elinchrom Quadra with Deep octa @ 2.3 power about 4 feet away

2. left and right side kickers were AB1600 with Softlighters 60 inch @ 1/3 power

Please tell me what I am doing wrong/right.

I had a 430EXII as Key light camera left 45 degrees above the head 4 ft away. . I had a YN560 as a fill light at the camera, straight on 4 feet from the chair. I had 2 foam boards near the chair for added reflection on the right side of the face. I metered each light. The Key metered at F 7.1, The fill F4. The combination metered at F5.6.

Would you consider this "soft" lighting? Also, I see that my wife is in good focus, but the dog is a bit OOF. Is that because of the F 5.6? Should I have increased the flash power to 1/1 to get to shoot at F8 or so?
