hey thanks alot guys! was going for a somewhat cinematic feel ;)

Thanks for the setup, it does feel very cinematic. Feels like the Forrest and Bob S/S 2010 Campaign with the woman in the car by Henrik Adamson...some of my favorite fashion work, ever. :)

Nina Model ~ Glam

Working with Nina in the Spa again.

i have not explored Glam with models yet and this is my first real attempt i think..

the wind was created with a 50 dollar fan, held by my friend Cory..

Hair and Make up was done by Cassandra Alsop for Elements Spa

lighting was 3 lights.

1. key light was Elinchrom Quadra with Deep octa @ 2.3 power about 4 feet away

2. left and right side kickers were AB1600 with Softlighters 60 inch @ 1/3 power

all triggered by Cactus V5's

CameraCanon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperturef/7.1
Focal Length85 mm
ISO Speed100
Exposure Bias0 EV

A lot of stuff to be done there.. I think the imperfections stands out more with the PP technique you are using.
.... clean her skin...especially the skin tone difference on the cheek and eye bags, fix blotchy lipstick too.. add lashes on lower eyelashes, clean eyebrows

this is good other than the cut off parts... not a fan of the BG and hair masking though.

@pnmd, that last shot is quite captivating!

that is awesome!
is it a composite, or where does someone go about getting that background??

Composite - the background is actually a photo of a hardwood floor that was modified to have deeper tones :D .

Wow, thanks guys!

Yes, the diffusion sock + light blocking insert was used. The Octa had both diffusion panels on as well

Thanks Phil - Did you observe this the moment you saw the image or after thorough inspection to provide feedback?

@Peter, as always brilliant shot! Loved it from the second you uploaded it to FB lol! Still can't believe you shot it at 1/60 and f/8 if I remember correctly!

Not anywhere close to the quality of some of the glamor work being posted here, but I liked the tone and texture of this shot from a shoot last weekend.

QUOTED IMAGE

2 9x32 strip-boxes at 45 to the back
4' octa boomed in front of subject feathered down to the floor
strobe with snoot and grid on the background

That's awesome. According to my laptop, this lacks a lot of contrast. Is that something you were going for? I just played around with the image a little and was wondering if that was the atmosphere you were going for since my edit gives it a different feel.

Yes, it was a clamshell type lighting:

always appreciate the encouragement from you Pham! It'd be great to break out but way too many great photographers out there. And the day job keeps me pretty busy

Thanks for the BTS. Great shot. Can you share the lighting settings or ratio or whatever the terminology is?

Anyone with recommendations on websites/books on this would be great - I just play around with the settings and that's not really getting a. good results or b. repeatable lucky shots.

thx yall. Glad bts helps.

Chana, wanted at least f/8 to minimize flare from the rear window strobe and dragged shutter at 1/60 to light up her face since none of the stobes were pointed at her face ;)

all the Elinchrom strobes were set at power setting of 1.5, except the DLite on the ground was at 2.0 b/c that's lowest it'll go, so I backed it up some.
Also the Sekonic meter read f/13 and shot at f/10-11 b/c I like bright/ slightly overexposed pics. YMMV depending on lens etc ;)
