haha, having fun shooting skate pics of some locals

This is crazy. Very cool! It looks like there isn't a ton of run out for the skater with the grass...bail city with all that speed. :)

Day 3/365 was yesterday I built the basement studio, it has a less then ideal low ceiling, but it works:P
built a background stand out of PVC for my 107” white seamless, seems sturdy shouldn’t be falling over. once Jun (in image) got off work made her stand in front of the camera for me :P
this was meant to be a 1 strobe set up, but forgot to turn of on my speed lights. dropped a yn460II on concrete from about 3-4 feet, still working good :D

strobist info: x1600 camera right, reflector camera left, and 430ex somewhere in the back left shooting at here

as always C&C is welcome and appreciated.

More Dana.

Two lights positioned for the 'tear drop' catch light and ring flash type shadow on the background.

Main - 14" x 55" strip (horizontal orientation) directly above camera.
Fill - Elinchrom high performance reflector just under the lens.

Did this today, two old...reaaaally old bowens, a 400 and a 750 special, back from the 60's ahaha...
anyway, one camera left with umbrella, filling from "behind" at full power and one camera right with reflector.
I know, sorry for the background, couldn't find anything better today...

I love photographing cycling products, and I really like the harsh lighting style, meaning black behind which gives me control to outline the product...I don't like the big wallpapers or BG that you stick at the wall, i love to photograph "on the street", garages, parkings etc etc

Pleaaase feedback, criticism...I need them! even the worse of the worse...

nice image! Not really anything to complain about! The white pops alot! the background works, only complaint would be loosing some of the black around the handle bars but thats nit-picking

I managed to con...errr...convince one of my granddaughters to let me take a few photos of her today.

Setup is the 580EX2 camera left in a gridded Qbox24, white foam board reflector camera right and the 430EX2 as a hairlight directly behind. The hairlight was too low to get enough seperation from the bg unfortunately.

Photo was taken in my family room. I'm looking forward to getting a white bg setup and hopefully, one more light someday.

You're certainly getting the hang of it.
Cute grandkid by the way.

Winpig, thanks for the kind words. I know I have a long ways to go to be anywhere near the level of many who share their images here.

I like that shot a lot Gene, it's very authentic. All those really processed pics don't do anything for me unless it's out of this world and even then, I prefer this more down to earth vibe.
