IMO I would like to see the car on the opposite side of the frame to balance out the statosphere. I know it's not always easy to find a location, but if you could find somewhere to shoot without the powerlines, or photoshop them out, I think you would have a much stronger image.

Did this today, two old...reaaaally old bowens, a 400 and a 750 special, back from the 60's ahaha...
anyway, one camera left with umbrella, filling from "behind" at full power and one camera right with reflector.
I know, sorry for the background, couldn't find anything better today...

I love photographing cycling products, and I really like the harsh lighting style, meaning black behind which gives me control to outline the product...I don't like the big wallpapers or BG that you stick at the wall, i love to photograph "on the street", garages, parkings etc etc

Pleaaase feedback, criticism...I need them! even the worse of the worse...

Maybe just a small light pointed at the front, mainly the rear brake lever to help seperate it from the background, it gets kinda lost back there. Everything else looks fine.

More Dana.

Two lights positioned for the 'tear drop' catch light and ring flash type shadow on the background.

Main - 14" x 55" strip (horizontal orientation) directly above camera.
Fill - Elinchrom high performance reflector just under the lens.

[[/IMG]

did you use textures? or is that the background?

During the work shop we covered many topics including lighting, posing and how to deal with real live shooting sessions.. and ever changing conditions..

this shot was done at the parking garage being it stormed thru the whole session..

this was my first work shop and i my self learned some things about creating a curriculum

lighting on this was 3 lights

1. Rear Camera Left was AB1600 with 60 Softlighter with yellow Gel @ 1/2 power
2. Rear Camera Right was single 430 Speed light @ 1/4 power with Blue Gel
3. Key light was Elinchrom Quadra with Deep Octa about 5 feet camera left @ 1.5 power

all lights but the Elinchrom was triggered by the Consistent firing Cactus V5's

My First Two Fashion photo shoots Using off camera flash. Two 580 exII's and one 480exII triggered with Pocket wizards. Please criticize them and tell me what im doing wrong. I am quite new to this. I am inspired by many of your works and constantly read and watch what your saying.

I like that shot a lot Gene, it's very authentic. All those really processed pics don't do anything for me unless it's out of this world and even then, I prefer this more down to earth vibe.

the first picture wasn't processed...the second one it is, just to see the difference
But I see what you mean, I just love to give it that grunge look, vintage coloration, heavy vignetting eheh...just preference.

yeaah, I tried that...problem was that I have only 2 lights, then 2 flashes but I don't have any softbox or diffusor so I tried with a bare flash lighting from the front wheel but was too harsh and sharp light, If you get what I mean...I wasnt able to "soften" it a bit...my fault of course, noob in lighting that I am eheh

thanks for the criticism and comment!

PS: of course, to everybody else, outstanding works from each of you...you guys are teaching me so much...overall when you explain your technique or when you put a picture of the setup...I'm just learning sooo much.
Thanks everyone...

Love those shots on the cars, top notch and they serve me as reference for a future work I'll do.
at the others, outstanding job indeed guys!

Here is a photo I did for a class. Two Speedlites and Cactus V5 RC triggers used. Key light is through a shoot through umbrella and the fill is through a diffuser. Real simple. I got some reflection on the watch, but for the most part I like it.

This is crazy. Very cool! It looks like there isn't a ton of run out for the skater with the grass...bail city with all that speed. :)

He actually did land and ride away, he jumped it a slight angle then carved toward the camera hard on landing and rode away clean....the whole setup was a joke, I was just making up stuff for them to do and to my surprise they were down to do it, haha.
