He looks like John Locke from Lost! Of course, amazing work in the previous pages.

June,

Not from this set, no. I've been playing with gels a lot more lately...but the whole plan for that shot was the motion. I know many may not like it (that's the nature of untraditional shots), but I *love* it. That said, to each their own...and I'm cool with all types of feedback, so I appreciate your input. :)

Here's another couple of images where I used gels.

It seems like the gels don't really work all that well with the softer light in that first pic for some reason. Just me probably. The second one is damn fine. Incredible.

I was going for a underlighting effect with the gels. The key light is a Mola Demi with a black grid almost directly above the model...so in reality, it's not all that soft of light. I appreciate the feedback and certainly take zero offense from your feedback (and appreciate both negative and positive feedback), but I'm actually pretty happy with the results of that image. Admittedly, I'm relatively new to gels...so maybe a few months from now I'll look back at is as garbage.

Well, I meant softer light in relation to the second pic. Dont get me wrong, the first one is awesome, but I think the gels worked out better with the second one. I guess it's hard for me to just look at one objectively without the other one creeping into view. I would be on my way to dying a happy man if I could even get CLOSE to either one of them..... ;)

No no...I certainly wasn't disagreeing with you, just contributing to the conversation. There's never a right/wrong, so I really appreciate you giving the input.

Don't hesitate to play around with gels. They can be a bit finicky, but with some experimentation (which is where I'm still at), I'm sure you could get some images that you'd be excited about.

Did you happen to use a light meter, or just SOOC? Thank you.

If you were asking me...nope. I've never used a light meter on a shoot.
