Good ones Ralph...

I have just started usinf Portrait Professional plugin for CS5. It is great, and it greatly improved my workflow, but just sucks for freckles.. This was a major issue here

When there are no freckles, it is a lot easier..

Hi Shankar

Your lighting has improved vastly in the last 3 months.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Don't you DARE process away those freckles! I like the first expression the best, but would enjoy her hair being more in control and a slightly looser crop. The grey background brings drab to the photo - something that works with her hair color may be better in this instance. Have you tried working with gels or background replacement?

The processing I'm needing is not freckle removal, that's for sure:lol:, but some subtle smoothing on her left chin, that sort of thing.

These were a real quick session and it was raining outside. It was more to experiment with a new lighting set up. BG was white, but I didn't bring a third light and I didn't want black because I was looking for a lighter look.

Thanks for commenting.

Thanks for the encouragement Ralph.

If it is JUST skin smoothing, I have found that using the high pass filter & Gaussian blur combination method works great..

Copy the background layer
Change the layer mode to Overlay
Add a High pass filter. I usually choose 10 for the pixel value
Invert the layer, and all hell will break loose
Go to filter > Blur > Gaussian blur. Here as you increase the "blur" you will bring back the texture. I usually stop at 4 or 5
Create a mask, by clicking alt and the mask icon. You should have a black mask
Use a soft white brush and brush on the skin portion.

<Purists might balk at this, but it works great>

kojack, you've got something funky going on with the background but great result otherwise. Some pretty awesome shots here.

A couple from today.
I need to work on my skin pping, along with everything else:rolleyes:

the skin looks great, don't process any more! the freckles and 'character' are what make headshots interesting, imo.

cool... reason I decided to have that because I was trying to imitate live concert stage lighting.
