I love shooting with speedlights! I like this shot but I wish I would have raised the lights and angled them down to avoid the shadows on the back walls and steep shadows on the floor. Oh well... you shoot and you learn.

I dont mind the shadows as much as the bike being over lit. Lots of highlights look to have lost a lot of detail.

I agree. Thanks, I'll work on it.

So I don't have much time these days to really practice as I should...but when I want to, my kids refuse to pose. I know the lighting is wack on these, but I was trying something new on these shots.

I was trying to use a sorta hair light, although it didnt work too well...and my other idea was to use a burst of light in between the two subjects for a dramatic shot. I forget what wedding pictures I've seen it in.

Anyways, qbox 24 for the main, and just a yn560 for the back light. I was trying to figure out how to defuse it, so it wasn't hard light, but I had nothing at the time.

These are pretty much SOOC. Ahh well... keep learnin...

This is an excellent candidate for light painting, if you can re-stage it.

I sure can. Its my dads old bike and its just sitting in his garage. I'll give it a shot sometime soon.

I've just finished reading Eric Curry's "Painting With Light", because I'm going to start working (among other things) on developing this technique. That setting and subject are pretty much right out of that book.
