How did you manage to make such an ugly bird look so good? Good shooting.

Great shot Mike. I got to attend a presentation on these birds a few weeks ago and they had a tame one there we could get close to. I'll never think of them as ugly again. The one I met was clean, very well behaved, alert and in general just a pet like any dog or cat. He certainly enjoyed the attention. :)

Classic vulture shot, watching the old prospector crawl to a dry water hole...heh...heh. Excellent shot!

Nice shot, probably wondering, "Shall I say grace first, or wait until it's dead" :D

Really great shot----and I think that besides me, only Canonloader thinks they are not ugly and that is after he met one up close and personal.

Seriously, the more I am around these birds, the prettier they become, and it is not just my aging eyes. :D:D

That is such a clear shot---I love it----wonderful birds.

Good shot, Mike. The vulture and my wood stork must have been designed by committee.

In case anyone was curious, the white legs is from him defecating on them himself. As it turns out, after years of study by the DNR, the habit is a way for the bird to control it's internal temperature. They are more a hot country bird and can not survive a Northern winter. The wet whitewash helps him regulate temperature through specialized veins and arteries in the legs. :)

Thanks for that info Mitch. I also read where some studies say they are as intelligent as dogs.
