I'm wondering if anybody has experienced this problem...
Canon 28-135 IS lens focuses intermittently.
It's just this lens, so I know it's not the camera body.
If I re-mount the lens, turn camera on/off, etc., I can get it to work.
Contacts are clean. Can't figure out why?

No focus at all. It's as if the lens is in manual focus mode.
I may need to send it back to Canon. It may be a dirty switch or contact inside the lens body.
Just curious to know if anybody else ran across this problem with this lens...or any other for that matter.

My 28-135 has never had a focusing problem, but I had to send it in to Canon because the IS started working erratically, switching on and off rapidly. The lens wasn't under warranty, but Canon fixed it for free. Wonders never cease.
