The series altogether is great; the first and last shots are wonderful.

Thanks, the cheetah shot is one of my favorite in 3 trips to Africa because the morning light was fantastic and I had not expected to see any cheetah on this trip. We were in the Timbavati and Sabi Sands where cheetah sightings are rare. We were fortunate to see this cheetah the afternoon before and then first thing in the morning. After that he left the area.

Brings back good memories - thanks for sharing. Cheetah in the low light is simply beautiful.

Thanks, the morning light was incredible. The cheetah was at Singita in the Sabi Sands. According to the rangers, because the cheetah's territory is so large and they generally keep on the move to avoid the lions and leopards, they only see a cheetah a few days each month. We just got lucky that it was there when we were. I've had good luck seeing cheetahs in the Serengeti, Masai Mara and also in the Moremi Reserve in Botswana. In the Masai Mara the cheetahs are so habituated to the vehicles that we had a mother cheetah climb on to the hood of the Land Rover to see if she could spot prey while her cubs sat underneath us.
