Okay lets get real about the focus issue, for me the only time I didn't like focus on the 5D was shooting in very low light using the outer focus squares when I was shooting like at 1.2 or 1.6

I agree, but I supplant that note with a 50mm 1.2. I had enormous difficulty shooting with the 5D/ 50.12 at the evening of a wedding on Saturday. I actually thought something was/had broken, as soon as I put the 50 on a 1D problems were gone.

Pick up a used 5d for around 1200. If you don't like it you can always resell it in a month or two or little or no loss.

I am not sure what you mean by that, the 1Ds classic regularly sells for under 1k and around 1k.

That being said I would not recommend it.

Sorry; I didn't realize they were down that low. I wouldn't recommend it over the 5D either, though.

The 5D is a great camera, and i think it will suit you very well. The high ISO performance is amazing, you can go all the way up to 1600 with very little noise. The focus isnt as bad as some make it out to be. No, its not the fastest/greatest, but i use it to shoot motocross every once in awhile, and if i can get a high percentage of keepers while tracking something going 40+ mph then im pretty sure it can handle a family event. And above all the IQ of it is freaking amazing!

You can get one for around $1200, there are a few in the sell section right now

NADA...sold off my gear and bought a motorcycle. I might be back shooting someday...
