I really like how the bokeh brought out the darkness of the squirrel. C&C welcomed!

I like this but I think it needs more 'pop' to it, this is after editing an already compressed jpeg. It's not GREAT but I like it :)

I have to ask, too: did you use any post sharpening on this?

Also, I didn't do this, but the noise in the darker part upper center of the picture could be fixed up too. that might be from the ISO 400 or it might be from the JPEG compression exaggerating it, I dunno.

No these are untouched by PP. I am not really educated on image editing.

Pick up a trial of Adobe Lightroom and see what you think. It is good. Not as powerful as photoshop but it is good.

Now that I look at the edit I did really quick, there may be too much sharpening and contrast is messed up especially by the nut it's eating.

Yeah I think I wouldn't have done quite as sharp as your edit, but a little bit helps for sure :)

I'm assuming you resaturized a little or did you just adjust levels?

Over all it's nice capture and learning a little PP will make it all that much better.

Saturation specifically in the greens, levels I did black point as the squirrels eye. The sharpening is messed up that I did but I feel the colors are richer.

Sorry I think I'm worn out for the day!!

The original shot is perfect, except missing some of the tail. The edit looks terrible. You did well and it doesn't need anything! Nice capture.

I don't know that I'd go that far.. I do feel the original is a little soft, and I think having the background a bit lighter makes the whole thing pop more..

The editor already thinks he overdid the sharpening, but I wouldn't say it's terrible.

At any rate, I still think the original looks very nice, I would follow the advice and check out either Photoshop or Lightroom, and play a bit with levels and sharpening.. It certainly doesn't need much though. :)

Well that is what happens when you drink six double gin and tonics and try to edit!

As I said, I oversharpened. Plus I'm working with a jpeg, isn't much of a help.
