lol ... well .. tell it like it is!

I really hadn't noticed the noise but ran it through Noise Ninja and they did look better. And ... no ... it wasn't the 50D. Will use NN next time for sure. Appreciate the reply!

i agree they look really strange...i like the natural stump and all too...think they could've turned out really nice

but the real question is...why are you shooting these with a panasonic point and shoot when you have a 50D and a bigmos???

Nice series, but somewhat grainy in appearance?

The "camera" is a Panasonic Fz28 which is a point and shoot with a Nikon 1.5 Tc on the front end. Works like a digiscope. I can reach way beyond the range of the 500mm lens and while the IQ can be very good ... I guess it can be bad depending on the conditions. I made this setup because I am old and carrying the 50D and the 500mm in the woods was a pain (actually! lol) The "McGiver" rig is very light. I carry both with me in the car and have shot enough with both that I know each limitation. The Red Shoulder Hawk was at the extremes for the Panasonic and required cropping which probably added to the noise.

I edit on a Toshiba laptop and really didn't notice the noise .. which tells me I now have a good argument for my wife. I need a bigger screen to be see the pics better. Flo might not realize it but I think she really helped me to get a new computer!! lol Honest opinions don't bother me ... and I appreciate her response. It came as a shock ... because I thought the pics were good but that response is much better than a "nice picture" because it made me take another look at the shots and I noticed that I had not run them though NN.

Probably a lot more than most want to read but they can stop any time I suppose.

Thanks again Flo ..... and I really mean it!!!

I see noise and some halos better noticeable on the first shot but under the circumstance you have mention(panasonic camera etc..) not bad it is expected to be like that.

canon 40d 17-85mm so far new to canon
