Right now i have the canon battery bp-511 1100mah in my camera. Is it possible to upgrade to a 1800mah without any problems in the battery?

Shouldn't be just means that you can stay out longer and get a few more pictures per charge

There was a post here a few weeks back about the 511 battery not working well. Some people were only getting about 20-30 pictures and it was indicating it needed a charge. Some reported that if you then removed the battery and reinstalled you could then get another 20-30 pictures. Shortly thereafter this started happening to me with a G2. I did the remove/replace firing off as many pictures as I could until the battery was really dead. Then I fully charged and it has been OK ever since. Although NiMh batteries don't have a memory effect like NiCads that was the behavior. Some computers nedd their charging circuits "recalibrated" when they are used repeatedly to charge batteries that are only partially discharged. That is very similar to the way I used my G2 - charging it whenever I used it "just in case."

If you have a weak battery force it by firing off waste pictures (flash helps) repeatedly until really discharged and then recharge and see if it bounces back.
