I was shooting a HS girls volleyball team and individuals pictures on Monday when all of a sudden I heard what sounded like a gunshot. I turned around and the girls were all pointing at my AB 1600. I didn't see it when it popped and it kept firing, with modeling light still on.

I have no idea what happened so I took it down and used my AB 800 that I had for backup. It did smell like something had fried in the light though.

I guess I'll give them a call today and see what I need to do to get it fixed.

Very strange.

Is the light putting out any less power or recycling slower than normal?

Sounds like a blown capacitor.

I just called them and that's what they said too. $40-$70 to get repaired.

Are the lights old?

Capacitors will blow sooner or later but I wouldn't be happy if I had to pay for one to be replaced in the first year or two of owning the light
