After a lot of reading and thinking about it, I ordered the Genesis 200 (2) light kit. I was going back and forth on the Calumet or Alien Bees. I didn't really know which way to go and all the reading got me even more confused. Asking the question which is better is like asking which is better Canon or Nikon.;)

I wrote it all down on paper and it came down to price and future upgrade. With the Bing rebate, I got the kit delivered to my house for $340. I could barely even get one AB for that amount. I just hope that I made the right decision for my home studio.

Thanks Roger! A little assurance means a lot. I've already gotten the email saying it will be here Friday.

well then Theron...you're in for a treat on Friday ;) :D

I know you'll have fun with them...I love mine! I went thru the same gut-wrenching, mind-boggling research and comparisons between the Genesis lights and the Bees, and know I made the right decision and haven't looked back since. The Genesis series have now been around long enough that the reviews and test results are in...by those who know what they're doing...and have proven them to be the real deal....enjoy ;)

Congrats on a great purchase while I don't own the Genesis lights I have used them with great results and you are buying into a great system I currently use Elinchrom strobes and love them and the modifiers. The range of product is what really sold me and I think you as well you feel better investing in something you know will grow with you. I don't mind spending the money on Elinchrom modifiers cause I know that I won't outgrow them.Right now I use monolights but if down the line I need a pack head system I can still use all the modifiers I have invested in. So enjoy and show us some of your results.

Enjoy your new acquisitions! I would love to pull the trigger on a 2x 400ws Genesis kit. I do portraits for my church's directory every year (including a 100+ member group shot), but that is about all that I would use them for and am having a hard time justifying the cost.

I'm off lining my cage with newspaper.

That's how its always start. You will probably use them more often when you have them.

The lights came in Friday and I had a session Saturday afternoon. Love the lights, now for a softbox....
