OK, I have a huge vertical wall in my place and want to fill it with one of my prints. I found on Winkflash that they print 44"x66" prints for only $70. I would have gone this route however my framer is going to charge me around $500 to mount and frame it. That's a little too much for me.

I guess what I'm looking for now is a print mounted/laminated which won't need a frame. That, or I'm looking for someone that prints large format canvas. I don't mind that cost of the print as long as it doesn't go over the cost that framer wanted to charge me.

Does anyone know of a company that prints either of these?

Have you looked in to having it printed on canvas or acrylic? Canvas prints usually come mounted on a frame, and acrylic doesn't need framing.

I ended up going with a 40"x60" canvas from simplycanvas.com. I used their first time discount of 50%. Got the picture printed, stretched and shipped for $250.

I know you got yours done already bum (very nice shot by the way), but in case others stop by this thread, I had some success using this place.

Prices are pretty reasonable. I personally am not a fan of the photo upload procedure they use, but it works and the output was good.

I would say worth a look. My cousin used them with success as well.

Oh, wow, that looks great. Did you shoot RAW and then save to TIFF to print that large?

I'd like to do something big like that, but separate the image into 3 vertical photos. I've seen a few people do that but how?

You don't need to use a TIFF to print a big image. Q10 jpeg's fine. Q12 is overkill but doesn't hurt.

Oh, cool. I really like the quality of the print he had made except it's for pros only (simplycanvas). I'll try one you listed Tim.

At first, I thought the same thing. But because it's a canvas, the only require you to save the file in the exact dimensions at 100dpi. I had to save the file at quality 11 in order to get the file under their 15mb limit. The image quality is amazing, even at 100dpi.

If you want to see how to do that 3 vertical images, check out the simplycanvas.com (external link) site. They have a bunch of tutorial videos on how to setup the images the way you need.

You might want to check out winkflash.com (external link) too. They have a sale on they're canvas right now for 40% off. I didn't use them this time because they're largest canvas I think is 24x36. Also, they only use a 3/4" wood frame where the one shown above is 1.5".

No, but I think if you have a website they check it out before they approve you. Once they approve you, you get 50% off your first order.

Not too friendly towards the aspiring pro, now is it? Everyone has to start somewhere...hell, even some pros don't have websites to show their work. I'll bet if you just gave some business sounding name they'll give the discount...most smart businesses won't turn away new clients, especially in today's economy (unless of course they have people pounding on their door demanding their services )

BTW, love your Chicago shots!
