i picked up a used norman 13ft light stand for a good price

but the norman stand has a small 3/8" male stud on the top
are there any adapters to convert this into a regular 5/8" stud?

im thinking a sleeve with a locking screw

i checked B&H but only found a 5/8 - 3/8 adapter
i need it the other way around

What is the diameter of the top (smallest) tube? What's the top look like? A photo would help.

If that's the stand you have then the Delta adapter I cited above is definitely what you need. Here's a photo and description:

did more searching and found it i think

i found out my impact umbrella brackets will grab onto the 3/8" stud well because it has space for that size of a pipe when you clamp it..

but when i put my bees on it...its not as secure as i want it because the AB's mount is a perfect circle

Good question. The B&H (Delta) adapter and the Adorama adapter are obviously the same item so the discrepancy in dimensions is a bit confusing. My interpretation would be that the 5/8" stud is either 1.5" or 2" long or something in between. As even a 1.5" stud is long enough for most 5/8" receptors, I wouldn't worry about it.
