I was hiking around Hurricane ridge on the Olympic Peninsula a few months past and this tiny deer popped from the bushes and walked right past me. I'm not sure how old it was but it looked pretty new to me. Shot with 70-200 F/4L IS and my 50D

I'm really surprised mama was not around. Mama deer are very protective and can get quite aggressive if she senses a threat to her little ones. Getting hoofed by a deer can cause some major damage. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
