Peterm, You're obviously a good photographer. The G cameras produce great images in the right hands.

Here are a couple from yesterday at Deception Pass in western Washington. It was high noon on a bright sunny day. Not the best time for picture taking. I did manage to get a couple shots I liked though.

The first shot... Looking out across the water from the beach, the Olympic mountains looked unbelievable. There was a hazy look though and the first couple pictures I snapped looked washed out and you could hardly see the definition of the mountains. I pulled my Oakleys off and took a shot through them. The only adjustments were slight exposure and contrast.

The second shot is "The shrimp shack." You can't go to Deception pass without stopping. Mostly greasy gut bomb stuff, but it's the goods. I selected the pink of the sign, inverted the selection and ran it through Optik vervelabs, flashback.

I know these aren't award winning pictures, but they are my fave's from the weekend. Just figued I'd share.
C&C welcome.
Thanks,
Keith

Winter is back in Germany (Bavaria) so I had to take my new G11 and took some photos.
I`m not very experienced. So it is an Automatic shot.

Some cracking pics being posted - I was out yesterday using the built in 3 stop ND filter, I also had fitted a WC-DC58B (0.75 converter) which takes the wide angle down to 21mm.
I thought they were worth sharing, some moving water shots - River Okemont, Okehampton, Dartmoor, Devon

Great shots... what is the info on the wide-angle converter?

These are with the Canon WC-DC58B - I am really not sure why Canon don't recommend this package and only promote the tele option? I must admit this set up works really very well, the converter has a standard 58mm thread and fits any of the short adaptor options e.g. Canon own brand, Lensmate or the various clone US/Chinese suppliers. I have been very pleased with the results.

Great shots John. Glad to see the x.75 converter works on the G11. I also like the news that the Canon tube option will work with the wide converter, or tele converters that I already have for my G9. We're in Tennessee now, but still have not purchased a G11. Will be in Charleston, SC the end of this week, so will look down there.

I've been considering the S90, but REALLY don't like all the complaints about the loose wheel on the back. I also now believe the G11 has all the features I really prefer, including the longer zoom (over an S90, not over my G9), and a hotshoe.

Dennis

There are some superb images in here, Ive been looking at a high end compact camera to carry everywhere with me as lugging all my gear is a nightmare sometimes, the amount of missed opportunities from not having my gear has made me decide to get a decent compact. Now the G series of cameras have been driving me mad trying to choose!!!, the G9, G10 and G11 are the choice, but after this thread the G11 seems to have just tipped it as quality over quantity definately appeals.

Anyone have any RAW images uploaded at all?

Thanks
Sam

Fantastic shots John, what a great idea for Canon to include a built in ND filter on these cameras.

How do you find the edge to edge sharpness of the wideangle convertor?

There are some cupcakes the girlfriend baked up for a friend's bridal shower. Taken with the G11 and 580EXII attached. That was a blast to hold!

I must admit I was really pleased, there does not appear to be too many problems with either distortion on the edges or with fringing. The Canon WA is a quality product and is well corrected, but like all things there is a cost to using adaptors, but the problem can be reduced with careful use.

Great pics, I find that using a simple flash bracket and getting the big gun off the top of the camera helps. You can then control with either an off camera cord, or the neater solution, is the small ST-E2 remote controller - which will control a whole host of flashes in two groups and allow you to alter the balance between them - all clever stuff.

Yeah a flash bracket would have been ideal but it was too tempting to mount the 580 atop the G11, haha!

I ordered a set of the Cactus V4s ... I can't wait til those come in so I can start messing with them!
