With a new baby in the family I want to be sure to get some good indoor flash shots. I have been considering a Studio Setup but thinking I may get useful results using a 580 Speedlite off camera into an Umbrella?

Would appreciate some feedback

Sounds like a good basic setup. I'd suggest getting one of the convertible umbrellas, white interior with a removable black cover so you can use it as a reflective or shoot through with the cover removed. I dont know how you plan to trigger the flash but here is the cheapest and easiest way to retain full ettl control. http://flashzebra.com/products/0125/index.shtml (external link)

The Flashzebra looks good but not available in the UK. I wonder if anyone can recommend an inexpensive alternative available UK?

Not UK, but this hong kong dealer ships worldwide. Its a decent cord, but shorter. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12538 (external link) There are also instructions on a thread here how to extend those with cat5 cable.
